Who I Am

I’m Sydney — an endurance and adventure athlete coach, former Team USA triathlete/duathlete, engineer, and founder of SaltMVMT. I didn’t inherit an outdoor lifestyle; I built it through grit, curiosity, and movement. Endurance sport became my foundation as I grew up around addiction, eventually carrying me into the Iron Man scene, 100+ mile bike races, ultramarathons, multi-day bikepacking missions, and a ranking in among the top 20 U23 triathletes in the world.

These days, you’ll most likely find me trail running in the Columbia River Gorge, surfing cold Pacific waves, gravel riding, or skating at my favorite parks.

I coach endurance and adventure athletes who want more: more strength, freedom, adaptability, and more Adventure.

Becoming an Athlete on My Terms

I wasn’t raised skiing, camping, or in the mountains. Everything I do now — trail running, surfing, bikepacking, gravel riding, backcountry skiing — came from choosing to learn, seeking mentors, and stepping into discomfort again and again.

Sport became the structure I didn’t have anywhere else, and the doorway to a bigger, braver life.

Expanding the Definition of Athlete

When I stepped away from triathlon, I didn’t stop being an athlete — I expanded.

I learned backcountry skiing in Alaska, studied in the Arctic at the University of Svalbard, shaped surfboards in Hawaii while completing my engineering master’s, and traveled to Indonesia for yoga teacher training. Since then, I’ve run steep ridgelines, surfed cold swells, pedaled across states, and built a multi-sport life centered on curiosity and resilience.

How Engineering Shapes My Coaching

As an engineer, I see the body as a dynamic system of physics, force, and flow.

As an athlete, I understand the art of durability, confidence, and showing up when life gets complicated.

I blend endurance science, biomechanics, mobility, nervous system awareness, and real-world adventure experience to help women build bodies capable of long miles, heavy loads, steep climbs, and wild environments.

Adventure That Lasts a Lifetime

I believe adventure has no expiration date.
It doesn’t end when you hit 30.
It doesn’t end when you change careers or life chapters.
It doesn’t end at motherhood.
A woman’s athletic identity can grow deeper and more powerful throughout her lifetime — and my mission is to support that evolution.

Why I Started SaltMVMT

SaltMVMT exists to help women develop strength, durability, and confidence not just for sport, but for life.

When women feel strong outside, everything expands — self-trust, purpose, community, and the connection we feel to the natural world. Movement changes people, and people change the world.

My Purpose

Give women the strength and tools to choose adventure for life — at any age, in any chapter, with no ceilings and no apologies.

Philosophy

Curiosity over perfection.
Movement should expand your world, not shrink it. Curiosity keeps training playful and adaptive, allowing you to grow into the athlete you’re becoming—not the one you think you “should” be.

Durability.
Your body is your vehicle through nature. Build it to last. When we move well, nourish ourselves, and feel strong from the inside out, we naturally become more magnetic in our lives—confidence shows up.

Engineering meets intuition.
I blend physics, biomechanics, and endurance science with the lived experience of someone who learned every outdoor sport from scratch. I was not raised in a mountain or ocean culture—I sought it out, piece by piece. That mix of analytical thinking and embodied wisdom shapes every program I build.

Lifelong learning.
I’m still building. I’m committed to ongoing education through training, mentorship, books, podcasts, and staying open to new perspectives. I don’t believe a good coach clings to fixed beliefs. A good coach evolves, stays curious, listens deeply, and remains a student of both the sport and human physiology.

Purpose-driven movement.
When we move better, we feel better—and when we feel better, we treat ourselves, others, and the planet with more intention. My mission is to help women develop the physical freedom and emotional resilience to explore and protect the natural world for a lifetime.
